Hyves is mostly in Dutch, with almost only Dutch members. If your social network largely extends across national borders and language barriers, I'd say Facebook is the better option. Keep in mind though, that because Hyves is almost the de facto standard in NL, you'll lose most of your Hyves contacts when switching to FB.
